Not everything we do involves websites. We worked with Gary Pickering to design a set of advertisements that could be used in local newspapers etc.
Notices mechanism.
Gary wanted a way to invite family and friends to share messages on the website, but it had to be a robust, secure facility so that notices could not be defaced or fill up with spam messages. We based our solution on the existing WordPress “comments” facility to enable the visitor to type in their message. Instead of automatically publishing the message, we built an email process that sends the proposed message to a one or more members of staff for review.
We recognised the need for a quick review and a rapid decision whether to publish the message. If reviewing the message meant waiting until a desktop computer was available, this would cause too much of a delay. Instead, the review and approval had to happen on a mobile phone so that the decision could be made instantly.
We added extra buttons to the email so the reviewer can read the submitted message and immediately click “Approve” or “Delete” on their phone. Published messages are immediately added to the correct website page displaying the relevant notice.
