Wiki.

Our work with NewPower began not on their website, but on their Knowledge Management System (KMS). We were responsible for getting the NewPower Wiki up and running. We crafted the procedures for authors and editors to prepare and approve new content, then trained staff in adopting the new processes. Drawing upon our previous experience in information management, we defined the information lifecycle and built the system to support that.

Learning Management System.

Avalon took on and trained additional staff to build and manage the LMS. We prepared, tested and published new courses on the NewPower Moodle system. We provided quality assurance by constantly checking: “are we teaching the right subjects”? The NewPower LMS included staff certification which linked to access control and Health and Safety at Work enforcement. Staff were only permitted to enter certain locations or use certain equipment, if they had completed the required courses.

Intranet.

Training.

As new staff joined NewPower, it was important that they understood from day-one how to use the KMS, LMS and the Intranet. Avalon prepared and delivered an essential component of on-boarding training to each new member of staff. This was often delivered on a Zoom call or similar, although some presentations were given in the Wellington office.
